The 6-day Marangu Route — nicknamed the "Coca-Cola Route" — is the only Kilimanjaro route that uses permanent hut accommodation at every camp. Approaching from the south-east via Marangu Gate, it is Kilimanjaro's oldest established trail and the most straightforward in terms of gradient and logistics.
Marangu is the right choice for climbers who strongly prefer hut sleeping over camping, and for those doing a second Kilimanjaro climb wanting to experience a different route. Note: the 6-day duration gives less acclimatisation time than the Machame or Lemosho routes, resulting in a lower summit success rate of 60–70%. Climbers seeking the highest success rate should consider the 7-day Machame or 8-day Lemosho instead.
